Gardening With Cats In Mind
August 29th 2010 -
Many of us that own cats also own a garden. However, for some gardeners, there’s a lot more wildlife in the garden that we’re not that happy about having.
Gardeners are sometimes plagued by slugs and snails who decimate our prize vegetables. For gardeners tough there are solutions to the slug and snail problem. Slug pellets are an easy an effective way of killing the slugs and snails before they start killing your lettuce’s! Unfortunately, these pellets contain a poison called ‘metaldehyde’ which does a good job on the slugs but can also do a good job on your cat!
There are though alternatives that have been designed to repel wildlife and pets but attract slugs and snails. Even better, try more organic methods like nematodes, small predatory worms that can be ‘watered’ onto vulnerable plants, or slug pubs, that use beer to lull slugs and snails to a boozy death.
